The Airport Authority announced that it would start the phased commissioning of two automated car parks -- located in the restricted area of the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) -- in November in support of the "Southbound Travel for Guangdong Vehicles" scheme.
At the initial stage, the fully automated "Park and Fly" facility will provide about 1,800 parking spaces.
Passengers arriving from HZMB can leave their vehicles at the designated location in the car park without needing to park the cars themselves. They might take the shuttle buses to the airport's restricted area for check-in and boarding, without the need to clear immigration procedures to enter Hong Kong and then depart for their flights.
The Authority said it will launch the automated "Park and Visit" car park in the next phase during the first half of next year, providing convenience for inbound travelers to visit Airport City facilities such as AsiaWorld-Expo and other leisure and entertainment facilities of SKYTOPIA to be introduced in the future.
The Park and Fly” facility (AAHK)
"'Park and Fly' fully leverages the convenience provided by the HZMB, offering Greater Bay Area travelers yet another option of driving to Hong Kong for flying to destinations worldwide, said the Chief Executive Officer of AAHK Vivian Cheung Kar-fay. "On the other hand, 'Park and Visit' makes it convenient for inbound travelers to visit Airport City facilities, helping to promote Hong Kong's tourism."
AAHK noted that it is conducting system testing and drills at the car parks, while finalizing the detailed arrangements for booking and usage of spaces at the two car parks.
