CrescentRating, the world's leading authority on Halal travel, in partnership with Mastercard, has released the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2025, with Hong Kong climbing to third place among Muslim-friendly destinations - up from fourth last year. The city has also earned the distinction of "Most Promising Muslim-friendly Destination of the Year."
The recognition extends beyond the overall ranking, with multiple Hong Kong establishments receiving awards that highlight the city's commitment to Muslim-friendly tourism.

Notably, Hong Kong ranked first in CrescentRating's new "Muslim-friendly Accessible Travel Destination (non-OIC)" category and second in the "Muslim Women Friendly Travel Destination (non-OIC)" category among non-Islamic Cooperation destinations.
Two local hotels - The Mira Hong Kong and Kowloon Shangri-La - were named "Muslim-friendly Hotel of the Year," while Ngong Ping 360 received "Muslim-friendly Attraction of the Year" and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre won "Muslim-friendly Convention and Exhibition Centre of the Year."
The GMTI, a collaborative project between CrescentRating and Mastercard, evaluates 153 global destinations across multiple criteria, including halal food availability, accommodation standards, prayer facilities, and overall travel accessibility for Muslim visitors.
CrescentRating serves as the world's foremost authority on Muslim-friendly travel, specializing in halal tourism research and accreditation.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board welcomed the recognition, noting these achievements reflect the city's ongoing efforts to enhance services and facilities for Muslim travelers.
