In a celebration of the joy of reading, Swire Properties has announced the return of the in-person charity sale “BOOKS FOR LOVE @$10,” featuring over 300,000 pre-loved books priced at only HK$10 each. The event will span two weekends in May.

This year's event, themed "Happiness Begins with Reading," aims to promote a reading culture and the healing power of words. It will be held at Cambridge House and Berkshire House from May 8 to 11 and May 15 to 18.
Now in its 13th year, the fair will offer a "Buy Ten, Get Two Free" promotion, delighting book lovers over the eight-day event.
In addition, a range of events promoting mental health will be included to encourage the public to find happiness through literary exploration.

A highlight of the event will be the surprise appearance of local illustrator Dustykid at Taikoo Place on May 16, featuring an AI chatbot for interactive Q&A, providing emotional support to attendees.
Star Wars fans are in for a treat as the 501st Hong Kong Garrison will host a meet-and-greet on May 9, offering photo opportunities and limited-edition themed bookmarks, accompanied by familiar Star Wars hits performed by the band Meta Sound.
Celebrating Mother's Day on May 11, there will be a handmade workshop featuring special Mother's Day cards designed by popular local comic artist Lobintan, inviting families to participate and spread warmth through handcraft.
One of the highly anticipated events, the Interactive Story Theatre, will collaborate with 12 theatre companies to deliver 20 engaging storytelling sessions in both Chinese and English. A total of 600 free tickets will be available for children aged 3 to 12.
Moreover, a costume parade will take place on May 11 and 18, inviting 150 young readers to dress as their beloved book characters, showcasing their imagination through a costume catwalk and interactive games, with prizes for the best-dressed participants.
Meanwhile, 70 young volunteers from partnering organizations will be on duty during the weekend book sale, gaining valuable work experience.
During the book fair, both venues will feature a "Mental Health and Inspirational" section, offering over 14,000 related books for sale. Readers can also share uplifting quotes or messages in the books at the "Happiness Sharing Station."
For those seeking a break from digital devices, an activity will challenge attendees to put down their phones for 30 minutes and immerse themselves in reading or puzzle games.
Partnering with the social welfare organization Lifewire, a mini Hong Kong-style flower board exhibition and workshop will allow participants to create personalized flower boards, preserving local crafting culture.
Last but not least, a LEGO play area will be set up at the Berkshire House for young readers to unleash their creativity with family for free.
Sponsored by Swire Properties, the book fair is organized in collaboration with the company’s Community Ambassador Programme, the Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA), and the Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS).
Since its launch in 2009, the event raised a record-breaking HK$1.36 million last year, with all funds supporting the “Treasure Trove” project led by the BGCA and the continued development of volunteer work with the AVS.
