A video circulating online on Monday has captured a troubling incident where a male McDonald's employee spat on a female colleague, sparking heated discussion online.
The approximately 20-second video was posted on the social media platform Threads on Monday, with the caption "That's how your employee behaves," accompanied by a tag to McDonaldshk.
The video started with the male employee wearing a black shirt and glasses approaching the female employee with a mask standing in a corner, but their conversation remained unclear due to the lack of audio.
Amid a suspected confrontation, the male employee spat on the female colleague three times, prompting her to lower her head to dodge the saliva and clear it from her hair.
The video concludes as another female employee intervenes, holding the victim's hand, seemingly to take her away from the situation.
The post soon gained viral attention, with comments urging the eatery to address the incident seriously and rejecting all forms of bullying. Some even humorously referred to the incident as McDonald's newest product, the "McSpit."
In response to Sing Tao Daily, the sister publication of The Standard, a McDonald's spokesperson emphasized that they are currently conducting an internal investigation following the incident.
The spokesperson reiterated the restaurant's zero tolerance policy towards bullying, underlining that they would seriously look into the case and into the incident thoroughly as well as strengthen disciplinary training to ensure a safe workplace for all employees.
