The CAD has recently heightened its focus on the safety risks posed by lithium battery power banks used by passengers aboard aircraft.
This concern was addressed in a meeting with local airline representatives on Friday (Mar 21) following a prior notice that urged the aviation industry to adhere strictly to existing regulations.
As of April 7, local airlines will enforce new guidelines that prohibit the use of power banks to charge portable electronic devices or to recharge the power banks themselves during flights.
Additionally, storing power banks in overhead compartments will be forbidden starting from the same date.
Passengers planning to travel are encouraged to contact their respective airlines to stay informed about the most current regulations.
The CAD remains committed to working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of these updated safety measures.
