Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) announced on Tuesday that it has achieved a record attendance of 7.7 million visitors for the fiscal year 2024, while also posting the highest net profit of HK$838 million since opening in 2005.
The theme park said the notable increase is attributed to a robust rebound in mainland and overseas visitors and the continued strong local patronage.
It emphasized that the non-local attendance growth outpaced Hong Kong's total visitor arrival growth for the second consecutive year, while per capita guest spending grew by 28 percent.
"The strong business performance has significantly improved cash flows, achieving a 28 percent increase in cash and cash equivalents," the resort said in its business results report for FY24.
"This has allowed HKDL to accelerate loan repayment and invest in new guest experiences, including the 20th anniversary celebration and a Pixar entertainment offering that will be funded entirely by HKDL," it added.
The theme park also announced the launch of a brand-new Castle Stage Show -- the largest-ever parade -- and a special edition of the "Momentous" Nighttime Spectacular in June to celebrate its anniversary.
HKDL also recorded a net profit of HK$838 million for FY2024, representing a year-on-year improvement of HK$1.2 billion.
It noted that it is the "strongest business performance in the resort's history" -- achieving record highs in net profit, EBITDA, revenue, and attendance since 2005.
The report indicates that EBITDA has increased by HK$1.4 billion, reaching a total of HK$2.3 billion. Additionally, revenue has risen by 54 percent year-on-year, amounting to HK$8.8 billion, both figures representing record highs for the Resort.
During the fiscal year, the company employed approximately 9,000 staff members, maintaining its position as one of the largest employers in Hong Kong's tourism and family entertainment sector.
Furthermore, it has been noted that employee salaries have been increased by a margin of 3.6 percent to 5 percent, accompanied by the distribution of bonuses ranging from 1.8 to 2.4 months.
