The iJunior Programme, launched in the 2021-22 school year, provides activity suggestions and teaching materials on moral education themes such as self-discipline, honesty and responsibility, with this year’s theme focusing on cultivating students’ sense of responsibility.
Participating schools would receive educational game kits for teachers and iJunior leaders – who are upper primary students – to conduct these activities.
The ICAC has introduced a new series of hand puppets of main characters from its “Little Coffee Bean” storybook.
It also advised schools to use these puppets during reading sessions of the storybook and encourage students to learn immersively through role-playing activities.
One of the participating schools, Yaumati Catholic Primary School (Hoi Wang Road), had arranged for all primary one and two students to participate in moral games with “Little Coffee Bean”.
“The students were highly engaged when they saw ‘Little Coffee Bean’,” said principal Polly Chan Shuk-yee. “Even our youngest students could tell the character’s perseverance.”
Meanwhile, Meicy Cheng Siu-mei, principal of A.D. & F.D. of Pok Oi Hospital Mrs. Cheng Yam On School in Tuen Mun, said that the program helped pupils apply positive values in their daily lives.
Principal of ICAC’s Youth and Education Officer Kathleen Kwong Kar-yan said more than 100,000 students had participated in the scheme since its launch.
“We are delighted to see students enjoying these activities while learning important values,” she said, adding that the ICAC plans to expand the “Little Coffee Bean” series with new books, games and activities focusing on different moral values.
