HKDL’s Give A Toy, Share the Love event, part of The Walt Disney Company’s worldwide Christmas gift-giving campaign, saw collaboration with over 20 NGOs to ensure that the holiday cheer reaches those who need it most. Michael Moriarty, managing director of HKDL, joined by the resort’s leadership team and passionate Disney VoluntEARS, worked together, sorting through donations and meticulously packing gifts tailored to the children’s wish lists with Mickey cheering them on.
Anita Lai, vice president of communications and public affairs at HKDL, articulated the spirit of the season: “Disney VoluntEARS are like Santa Claus, hand-picking gifts tailored for each child to fulfill their wishes. It’s incredibly meaningful. Giving is a part of who we are at Disney, and during the holiday season, we give even more. We believe that everything we do to make magic can make a difference.”
The event was marked by a special appearance from Mickey Mouse at The Salvation Army Tin Ka Ping School. Seven-and-a-half-year-old Leung Tsz-ying shared her excitement as she was overjoyed to receive a Lotso bear plush from Disney. “This is the present I dreamed of so much! Receiving a special gift and meeting Mickey is the best Christmas gift ever! I will definitely cherish this gift.”
Beyond toy distribution, Disney VoluntEARS organized a festive party filled with engaging games and captivating adventure stories, creating unforgettable moments filled with laughter and joy. Major Glenn Price, secretary for business administration of The Salvation Army, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the partnership, noting, “This collaboration with Hong Kong Disneyland is truly meaningful. The toys are more than presents; they are symbols of hope, love, and joy for local families who may be facing difficult times.”
Chan Chi Pun, school head of The Salvation Army Tin Ka Ping School said the students truly enjoyed the joyous and uplifting atmosphere. “Beyond receiving gifts, I hope students understand the importance of sharing and eager to help others when they grow up.”
As part of Disney’s tradition of giving, Disney VoluntEARS also brought smiles to patients at the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital earlier this year and plan to spread more magic at The Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital in Sandy Bay. This Christmas, for every “Frozen” mini figurine sold, the resort will donate HK$50 to Make-A-Wish Hong Kong, with guests receiving a complimentary special edition “Frozen”-themed mystery mini figurine in return.
Additionally, HKDL invites guests to join in the spirit of giving by purchasing newly designed Holiday Wishes Charity Postcards, with all proceeds benefiting Operation Santa Claus, an annual charity campaign. Through these heartfelt initiatives, this holiday season HKDL continues to showcase its dedication to enriching lives and spreading the magic of Disney beyond the park gates, bringing hope and joy to those who need it most.
