Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun Yuk-han on Monday reassured that the city’s top talent pass scheme is designed rigorously and that the Immigration Department scrutinizes each application, ensuring no loopholes in the scheme.
His comments came after reports that the scheme was misused by intermediaries in Guangzhou who help clients submit applications to the SAR government with falsified documents.
When asked to comment this morning, Sun said the scheme was foolproof and reminded applicants not to submit their applications through other parties.
The official said applicants should not engage with third parties over their applications and blindly trust their claims, adding that false representation is a criminal offense.
Authorities will continue monitoring changes in the situation, he added, calling applicants to submit their applications through official channels.
The Top Talent Pass scheme was launched in December 2022 for people abroad, who earn more than HK$2.5 million annually and graduated from the world's top 100 universities with at least three years of work experience over the past five years.
