The "Kerry Hong Kong Streetathon 2024 – Run Well Carnival" is being presented by MegaBox, a premier shopping mall and entertainment center in Kowloon East that currently promotes a healthy living in Hong Kong. A massive treadmill which is 11.7 meters long will make its Asian debut at the mall from today till December 8. This one-of-a-kind installation serves as the focal point of a lively running carnival and provides an unparalleled athletic experience. In addition to Kerry Properties Limited's title sponsorship of the Kerry Hong Kong Streetathon for the second consecutive year, MegaBox will present innovative cultural performances combining street performance, music, dance, and sports on the giant treadmill in collaboration with the West Kowloon Cultural District.
The massive treadmill, which is made in the UK and uses state-of-the-art technology, is made especially for marathons and film production. It has participated in major events including the London Marathon and the Abbott World Series Marathon Majors in Chicago, and its arrival in Megabox will bring thrill and excitement to Hong Kong residents.
MegaBox Hosts a Vibrant Running Carnival with the Gigantic Treadmill
The massive MegaBox L5 atrium treadmill will be offered to the public for two-minute speed trials during the 16-day carnival. A lively and welcoming environment is created by the invitation of participants of all ages and fitness levels. In addition to offering the general public an exciting and engaging experience, this event serves as a great warm-up for individuals taking part in the Kerry Hong Kong Streetathon 2024.
Children aged 6 to 11 are also welcomed to participate and join the Kids Adventure. They can crawl on the gigantic treadmill challenging a speed of 4 mph and collect coloured taps from the rack.
To participate in the Gigantic Treadmill Fun Challenge, the public only needs to sign up for a free Mega Club membership and like MegaBox on Facebook or Instagram in order to redeem a quota. To earn a quota for the Kids Adventure, parents and guardians can sign up as Mega Club members. Following the challenges, everyone can use two tokens to hunt for amazing prizes at the claw machine. Additionally, from now until December 8, users are invited to take part in MegaBox's social media game and complete the treadmill challenge as part of the "Runner Check-in Challenge" for a chance to win prizes worth over HK$1 million.
Concurrently, the Run Well Market will be held every Saturday and Sunday from November 30 to December 8. After finishing the treadmill challenge, Mega Club members have the opportunity to purchase locally manufactured sports equipment and handmade items for a healthy lifestyle.
Creative Cultural Performances on the Giant Treadmill
During the "Where Sports Meet Arts" event on Sunday, December 7th, well-known singer Jay Fung will be the featured guest in support of the Kerry Hong Kong Streetathon Run 2024. On the same day, street performer Lai Yee from the "WestK Street Performance Scheme" will also give a treadmill performance. He is renowned for his prowess in crystal ball, large hoop, light dance, and fire dance.
During the next two weekends (December 7 and 8), Shing Mak's dance team will showcase their distinctive choreography and rhythmic treadmill performances. Prominent in the dance industry since 2000, Shing Mak received a nomination for "Best Action Design" at the 50th Taiwan Golden Horse Awards for the movie "The Way We Dance."
Additionally, the treadmill will host a unique physical theater performance by the globally acclaimed local performance company TS Crew. Renowned for their inventiveness and vivacity, they skillfully combine dance, martial arts, and juggling, enthralling audiences with their visual extravaganza. Funded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, it is active on various international various stages. It consists of professional male performers covering film, drama, traditional opera, dance, martial arts, and stunts.
