The 93 events -- including 14 that span from this year -- will be organized across five categories and encompass 30 events focused on cultural, arts, and creative initiatives; 26 dedicated to conventions and exhibitions; 15 related to sports; 12 covering festivals, celebrations, galas, and carnivals; and 10 events pertaining to finance, economy, innovation, and technology.
The key events include the Asian Financial Forum in January and InnoEx in April.
Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong Wai-lun expects the upcoming events to attract approximately 840,000 visitors, representing a 50 percent increase from the 550,000 in the first half of 2024. The influx of visitors is anticipated to generate HK$3.3 billion in spending and contribute HK$1.8 billion in economic value.
He also projected that Hong Kong will attract 2 million tourists to various events in 2025, leading to HK$7.5 billion in spending and generating HK$4.5 billion in economic value.
The government aims to position Hong Kong as an East-meets-West Centre for International Cultural Exchange by supporting diverse cultural events, including the CultureFest and Chinese Culture Festival events.
