Speaking at the inaugural Family and Female Development Summit, Chan underscored the government's dedication to advancing women's rights and fostering equal social involvement.
He highlighted that the proportion of non-official female members appointed by the government to advisory and statutory bodies has now reached 35 percent, marking a rise of over 10 percent compared to two decades ago.
Chan also noted that the government has actively implemented the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), safeguarding women's equal rights to education and employment.
Such efforts include increasing maternity and paternity leave and enacting laws to prohibit discrimination against breastfeeding women.
