Kong met Yung at the CUHK Medical Centre in Shatin yesterday, thanking Yung and CUHK Sports Medicine team staffers for their support in her fencing career.
Kong also presented Yung with the gold medal she won at the Paris Olympics, hanging the medal around Yung’s neck showing her appreciation.
Yung was the surgeon who operated on Kong’s torn anterior cruciate ligament in 2017 and again in 2019. He flew to Paris and witnessed her win.
During the visit, Kong also talked to a few patients hospitalized at the medical center, including those suffering from sports injuries and paraplegia. She encouraged them to be brave in receiving rehabilitation treatment and shared with them how she dealt with adversity on his fencing journey.
