On May 6, Mong Kok police were conducting a patrol within the district when they saw two suspicious men selling an expensive watch at a watch store.
Upon investigation, the two men, aged 36 and 45, were arrested for handling stolen goods.
Investigation revealed that the watch was stolen from a shopping scam case.
On April 30, the duo also pawned another watch involved in the same crime, with both watches worth about HK$300,000.
The arrested persons have been released on bail pending further investigation and must report to the police in early June.
The case was handed over to the Mong Kok district police for follow-up.
The police urge members of the public to use online shopping platforms with caution to avoid falling for scams, and stores were also told to learn the source of the goods when purchasing them to avoid losses.
