Under the influence of an intense winter monsoon, local temperatures fell significantly Thursday morning, with the Hong Kong Observatory recording a minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest so far this winter.

The cold weather warning, which was issued by the forecaster at 6 am this morning, is still in force.
The forecaster said temperatures will remain low in the next few days over the territory. The minimum temperature in the morning of Winter Solstice (Friday) will be around 8 degrees in the urban areas. It will be very cold in the New Territories and temperatures will generally be a couple of degrees lower.
“The temperature felt by the body will be lower than the actual air temperature. Members of the public are advised to keep warm, take care of the elderly and persons with chronic medical conditions,” the HKO added.
