The world’s first and largest World of Frozen theme land will open on November 20 at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, allowing the public to enjoy three major attractions.
The Kingdom of Arendelle is a recreation from the Walt Disney Animation Studios' Frozen film series.
In the World of Frozen, visitors can enjoy the Frozen Ever After boat ride filled with music and laughter and see main character Elsa's ice palace.
"From heart-warming and chuckle-inducing scenes to enchanting and awe-inspiring moments, this epic journey, accompanied by everyone's beloved Frozen friends, will immerse guests in a magical world with well-known songs from the 'Frozen' movies," the park said.
The parks at the Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs is a high-speed, family coaster, exclusive to the World of Frozen theme land.
As guests slide into the sleigh, they will find themselves zooming across hills, through caves and over fjords, taking them on an exciting adventure through the natural beauty of Arendelle.
Children with a height of over 95 centimeters are eligible to ride on the sleigh, but the park added the attraction is not suitable for expectant mothers or people who suffer from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, as well as motion sickness.
Visitors can also meet Anna, Elsa and Olaf at the interactive theater Playhouse in the Woods.
Amanda Chiu Nga-yan, senior producer of Walt Disney Imagineering Asia, said the Frozen theme land is the largest extension project of Hong Kong Disneyland, with the size of the site equivalent to two other themed areas — the Toy Story Land and Mystic Point -- and believed the park will not be overcrowded as various crowd control measures are in place.
Meanwhile, Shanghai Disneyland will see its new Zootopia theme park by the year-end. When asked about the competitiveness of Hong Kong’s World of Frozen, Chiu believed the Hong Kong theme park still enjoys its unique competitiveness.
“I don’t think there will be competitions among parks, as we also share our unique qualities, especially appealing to guests from Southern China and Southeast Asia,” she said.
The village of Arendelle features iconic landmarks that appeared in the films, such as the North Mountain, Elsa’s Ice Palace and the Clock Tower.
Beneath the iconic clock tower, visitors can find the entrance to the Frozen Ever After boat ride, which features the most advanced, all-electric Audio-Animatronics® technology developed by Walt Disney Imagineering.
There is also a restaurant and stalls where visitors can experience traditional Norwegian food and purchase souvenirs, as well as celebrate the Summer Snow Day which commemorates the day that Anna saved her sister Elsa and the kingdom with an act of true love.
