House fire sends black smoke into sky above Cheung Chau

Black plumes of smoke lofted into the sky above Cheung Chau at around 1.57 pm on Thursday after a house had caught on fire.

The rooftop of the house on Tai Sun Street was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene. A few explosions could also be heard as the flames tore through the house.

It took the firefighters around 10 minutes to douse the flames. No injuries were reported and fire officials are looking into the cause.
