The case was revealed by the 22-year-old’s family who reported to the hospital that the man had two knives – one 47-cm-long and another 26-cm-long – on him when he left home for the hospital around 4 pm on Friday.
Officers soon arrived and intercepted the man named Fung at the hospital. He was later arrested for possessing offensive weapons and possessing imitation firearms without a license as police found the two knives in his bag, as well as an imitation rifle.
He then underwent a medical examination at the hospital.
His case was mentioned at the Fanling Court on Saturday, and he needed not to enter a plea yet. Deputy Principal Magistrate Colin Wong Sze-cheung then adjourned the case to July 14 in the West Kowloon Court, pending two psychiatrists’ reports.
Fung will be remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
