A traffic accident that occurred in Sha Tin on Thursday morning saw a coach bus and a KMB double-decker collide, leaving at least nine people injured.
The accident happened this morning at around 7am when a coach bus driving on Sha Tin Road towards Kowloon rear-ended the KMB double-decker.
It is suspected that the coach bus driver couldn’t brake in time and collided with the KMB bus.
During the incident, at least nine people - aged 29 to 65 - were injured, including five women and two men on the KMB bus, as well as the male driver and a female passenger on the coach bus. One of them is in serious condition.
The 37-year-old driver of the coach bus, named Yang, was trapped and required assistance from firefighters. He suffered a head injury and was placed in a neck brace.
All passengers were conscious and sent to either Prince of Wales or Queen Elizabeth hospital for treatment.
At the scene, the front of the coach bus was damaged, and its windshield shattered, with blood visible inside the cabin. As for the KMB bus, the back of the bus was damaged, and many mechanical parts were sprinkled all over the road.
The area where the incident occurred has been cleaned up and is open to traffic, but the congestion is yet to be resolved.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
