A fatal traffic incident happened in Central on Friday night where an unsecured vehicle rolled backward and hit eight persons, including Elodie Ma, who was dragged underneath the car. Ma was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital after sustaining severe injury and eventually passed away on Saturday evening.
Ma's boyfriend on Monday evening updated his Facebook profile photo to one showing the sweet couple hiking together. The boyfriend touchingly captioned the picture, "My whole world, My life, My love."
Citizens also paid tribute to Ma by placing flowers at the scene where the incident occurred.
It was understood that Ma was raised and educated in France. She had lived in Seoul in South Korea before coming to Hong Kong for work in March 2017.
She previously had worked at an international trade and food company. She was currently the sales manager for the Asia Pacific region of a chocolate company and was posted in Hong Kong when the tragedy happened.
Ma had uploaded photos on her Facebook showing her outgoing side, including the scenery captured by Victoria Harbor and riding on the tram to explore the city.
Many also paid their last respects to Ma and commented "R.I.P." on her Facebook, hoping her soul can now be put to rest.
As for the other victims of the incident, a 31-year-old woman is still in critical condition while another man in hospital is in stable condition.
The driver of the car, a 44-year-old Filipina, had been charged with dangerous driving causing death and appeared in Eastern Magistrates' Courts on Monday. The case has been adjourned to April 7, 2022.
