Hong Kong police officers raided four offices in connection to the now-disbanded Civil Human Rights Front on Thursday morning, after the group failed to provide information over a suspected breach of the Societies Ordinance.
The police force earlier demanded the group to provide information about their income and expenditure, as well as rallies they organized.
The four locations raided by officers included the office of the League of Social Democrats at Tai Cheung Factory Building in Lai Chi Kok, and the office of LGBTQ+ organization Rainbow of Hong Kong at National Court in Jordan.
The force previously requested the information to be submitted on or before May 5. It also requested the group to provide reasons for not registering with the Societies Officer, and asked the group whether it belongs to exempted persons listed in the schedule of the Ordinance.
The list of demands go on as police asked the group to provide the dates and venues of all the public parades and assemblies they have held since September 2006, as well as all the banks and account numbers they used for their income, expenditure or to receive funding.
It also requested the group to state the purpose and reason for creating the petition “Stop Torture and Respect Human Rights” for the 70th anniversary of International Human Rights Day, on December 9, 2020.
