The Education Bureau sent reference books on national security law to kindergartens, saying teachers can help kids to recognize their Chinese identity and the country.
Each school will receive seven copies of the book, which is written by Wang Zhenmin, the former liaison office legal affairs director, and selected by Chen Baosheng, China's minister of education.
In the memo to kindergartens, the bureau said now that the law has come into effect, kindergartens should help kids to recognize that Hong Kong is a part of China, as well as some primary concepts on Chinese culture and Chinese national identity.
This helps kids to understand different aspects of national security in the future easier, and encourages them to shoulder the responsibility in safeguarding national security.
The bureau added that cultivating the morale and values of the toddlers is a part of the kindergartens' curriculum.
Schools can also teach them to follow rules and not to damage public property, in order to become better citizens, said the bureau.
