The 41-year-old female quarantine hotel cleaner tested positive last Friday after cleaning the hotel’s room 503 where an imported case had lived. But she tested negative for the virus and antibodies after being sent to a hospital.
Health officials have earlier collected 44 environmental samples at the hotel, and two collected from a wash basin in the bathroom of room 503 tested positive today. The other samples tested negative for coronavirus, the health authority said.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong has recorded three new imported Covid-19 cases today, taking the city’s tally to 11,493 with 211 deaths.
All three cases are students returning to the city from the United Kingdom at the end of June and all of them carried the highly contagious Delta variant.
One of the cases was a 15-year-old boy being quarantined at Regal Airport Hotel in Chek Lap Kok, he developed symptoms yesterday.
The other two students -- two men aged 19 and 20 -- started to have Covid-19 symptoms on Friday. They were being quarantined at Nina Hotel Island South in Wong Chuk Hang and JEN Hong Kong by Shangri-La in Shek Tong Tsui.
