A German male on a bike has died in a car crash with a van on the Peak this morning.
The man, 54, was cycling downhill on 77 Peak Road with a friend when he was hit by a cargo van coming from the opposite lane this morning at around 9am. It was believed that he surpassed the opposite lane on a left turn.
The pair had planned to cycle on a return route from Shouson Hill in Aberdeen to the Peak despite the dampened road surface by the humid weather.
The man's bike was an “E-road” model produced by Italian brand Bianchi, estimated to cost around HK$40,000. According to the digital odometer on his bike, he had already cycled 13.7km before being hit.
