Maureen Fung Sau-yim, executive director at Sun Hung Kai Properties (0016), has reportedly been suspended due to corruption linked to a Shanghai shopping mall project, according to Reuters's report.
The move took place last week and involves the IAPM mall in Shanghai ICC, developed by SHKP. It concerns tendering for marketing activities, advertising placements, and brand partnerships, Reuters cited people familiar with this matter.
Fung has always been the main speaker representative for SHKP shopping mall events other than members of the Kwok family, but she has reduced her attendance at public events in recent years.
The last time she appeared as an executive director was when she attended the 20th anniversary event of apm shopping mall in Kwun Tong in July last year and introduced the new shopping mall project "Scramble Hill" in the same district. She also attended the 21st annual general meeting of the institute of shopping mall management on January 21, announcing that she would end her two-year term as chairman and step down to continue as the founding chairman.
According to public information, 63-year-old Fung joined SHKP in 1991 and has been promoted multiple times. She has been an executive director since August 2022, responsible for the strategic planning, development and management of SHKP's major shopping malls in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing and Hangzhou. She is also a member of SHKP's executive committee and was appointed as a member of the nomination committee in July 2025, and is also a director of certain SHKP subsidiaries.
