GOG, the digital game marketplace known as Good Old Games, over the weekend launched a site offering 13 adult titles for free download in what it calls a stand against the quiet removal of creative works from online platforms.
The limited-time campaign, which went live Friday to run for just 48 hours, follows recent moves by Steam and indie platform Itch to delist several violent and sexually explicit games.
The collection on the site FreedomtoBuy.games includes controversial titles – labeled NSFW or "Not Safe For Work" to warn consumers that the content may be inappropriate for viewing in a professional or public situation – such as Postal 2, Leap of Love, and Being a DIK Season 1.
GOG said the campaign aims to preserve a diverse range of games and draw attention to how easily titles can be removed under pressure from payment processors and platform policies.
Valve’s decision to delist some games from Steam followed new requirements tied to its payment partners, while Itch cited similar constraints after lobbying by nonprofit group Collective Shout.
Itch said it is working to restore as many games as possible, including paid adult titles still under negotiation with its payment providers.
