Get real, it's the World Cup

Now TV is to incorporate augmented reality technology for the World Cup in Qatar, with the opening game on November 20.

So subscribers can gain real-time information on team strategy and player performance statistics through the Now AR - FIFA World Cup app.

People can also view a three-dimensional mini pitch on any flat surface at home with their smartphones and summon favorite players on mobile devices to get together in photos.

Now TV and Now E subscribers with FIFA World Cup 2022 event passes can use the AR app. The CSL 5G Lens app also provides a link for users to download and open the app.

Choi Wai-kin, managing director of HKT Home, said the games and programs can attract big audiences at bars and eateries, which will be a major lift for the hospitality sector. And that looks likely as many games kick off at 6pm and 9pm HK time.
