As of 4pm on the third day of the Lunar New Year, the Immigration Department recorded more than 682,000 arrivals and departures, with more than 285,000 outbound Hong Kong residents.
The department earlier projected 11.38 million passenger trips from February 14 to 23, with outbound peaks expected on February 14 and inbound peaks on February 22.
As of 4pm today, a total of 682,713 passenger trips were recorded through various control points. This includes 360,271 outbound individuals, comprising 285,021 Hong Kong residents and 75,250 visitors.
On the inbound side, 322,442 arrivals were recorded, including 121,208 Hong Kong residents and 201,234 visitors.
As of 10am, a total of 128,898 people departed the city, including 108,209 Hong Kong residents and 20,689 visitors. On the inbound side, 110,117 passenger arrivals were recorded, consisting of 31,390 Hong Kong residents, 73,874 mainland visitors, and 4,853 other visitors.
Among all control points, Hong Kong International Airport recorded the highest traffic with 37,773 passenger trips, followed by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port with 33,812 trips.
Major land boundary control points all recorded more than 25,000 passenger trips each, with Lo Wu handling 26,817 trips, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line 26,452 trips, Hong Kong West Kowloon Station 26,644 trips, and Shenzhen Bay Port 25,957 trips.
The Immigration Department announced that as of 9pm on the second day of the Lunar New Year, a total of 977,000 passenger trips were recorded.
Among them, 445,000 entries were recorded, including 206,000 mainland visitors, mostly arriving through the West Kowloon Station.
For outbound travel, 531,000 passenger trips were recorded, with 384,000 Hong Kong residents, mainly departing through the Lo Wu port.
