The High Court on Monday ordered the liquidation of Christian Zheng Sheng Association Limited, the parent company of the now-defunct boarding school for young drug offenders.
In a written judgment delivered in the morning, the court granted the Department of Justice’s petition to wind up the association, citing its failure to repay more than HK$61.44 million owed to the Beat Drugs Fund Association (BDFA).
The court also ordered the association to pay HK$600,000 in legal costs.
The association previously operated Christian Zheng Sheng College on Lantau Island. The winding-up petition stemmed from the alleged misappropriation of more than HK$50 million in donor funds.
Four former and current directors were arrested in connection with the case, while three former directors — including former principal Alman Chan Siu-cheuk, founder Lam Hay-sing and Chan Yau-chi — were placed on wanted lists after leaving Hong Kong.
