Vivien Chen Wai-wai, the youngest daughter of Nan Fung Group founder Chen Din-hwa, has filed a High Court lawsuit on Sunday, accusing her elder sister Angela Chen Wai-fong of using undue influence and fraud to transfer substantial family assets from their late mother Yeung Foo-Oi between 2006 and 2020.
The legal battle over the Nan Fung Group's billion-dollar fortune intensified as Vivien Chen Wai-wai sued her sister Angela Chen Wai-fong in Hong Kong's High Court yesterday.
The writ claims Angela exerted undue influence and committed fraud against their mother, Yeung Foo-Oi, while she was in a compromised mental state, resulting in the transfer of at least eight companies and large sums of money.
Court documents detail disputed transactions involving shares in Sino Portfolio International Ltd, Southern Territories Group Ltd, Timeworth Group Limited, Metro Union Group Limited, Redbridge Enterprises Limited, Time Choice Finance Limited, Upper Wise Management Limited, and Jesteburg Company Limited, mostly occurring between 2010 and 2017.
Vivien also challenges the validity of an enduring power of attorney, proceeds from a 2014 divorce settlement, a 2012 deed of gift and debt assignment, and various other asset transfers spanning 2006 to 2020.
The plaintiff alleges Angela "breached trust and cheated" their mother during this period.
She is seeking a court declaration that the contested transactions are void, along with orders for the return of the assets or equivalent compensation.
The sisters have been locked in legal disputes since their mother's death in 2012, when all inheritance was left to Angela.
The trial is scheduled to begin on February 22 next year and is expected to last 53 days.
