Fire-gutted interiors at Wang Fuk Court units revealed 

Social media posts have revealed the aftermath of units in Wang Fuk Court that were burned during the fire, exposing scenes of complete devastation with homes reduced to ashes and ruins.

According to pictures circulating on Facebook, the fire-gutted interiors showed strewn with ash and exposed steel reinforcement bars, ceilings with peeling plaster, and walls thoroughly blackened.

The majority of home furnishings were charred beyond recognition, while remains of washing machines, toilets, sinks, and bed frames were identified at some less-damaged units.

Of the eight buildings in Wang Fuk Court, only one escaped damage from the fire.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Victim Identification Unit (DVIU) entered the fire scene on Sunday (Nov 30) morning to search for additional fatalities and human remains and to assist in victim identification.

Upon entering the buildings, officers began by assessing the layout before conducting thorough searches for human remains, bodies, or ashes. The process includes documenting the location of any discovered victims and noting any personal belongings left behind to assist in identifying the deceased.
