The ICAC widened their probe into the deadly Wang Fuk Court renovation project on Friday, arresting eight people across the city on suspicion of corruption and fraud linked to the works that are now believed to have fuelled the catastrophic blaze.
The eight suspects, seven men and one woman aged 40 to 63, include four senior staff from the main consulting firm overseeing the massive refurbishment—two directors and two project managers—along with a husband-and-wife team who ran one of the scaffolding subcontractors and an alleged middleman.
Anti-corruption officers executed search warrants at 13 locations, storming company offices and private homes to seize contracts, project files, and banking records.
All eight remain in ICAC custody as the investigation intensifies.
