Chairman of the Airport Authority Fred Lam Tin-fuk highlighted AsiaWorld-Expo's connectivity at the 92nd UFI Global Congress on Thursday, as well as its future potential following the operation of the third runway.
Lam noted that the venue is located adjacent to the airport, which offers flights to over 200 global destinations. It is also near the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, allowing residents from Macao and Zhuhai to reach it in just 30 minutes.
He further mentioned that a multi-purpose venue capable of accommodating 20,000 attendees will be established at AsiaWorld-Expo, with completion expected in 2028.
Upon completion, it will become Hong Kong's largest dedicated indoor performance venue, aimed at hosting world-class pop concerts and performances.
Furthermore, Lam expressed anticipation for the venue to connect to more destinations in the future, especially with the third runway having commenced operations last year.
Speaking at the same event, Peter Lam Kin-ngok, chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, stated that Hong Kong has become Asia's premier travel destination due to its exceptional global connectivity, business-friendly policies, world-class infrastructure, and professional services.
He noted that 180 meetings, incentive travels, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) events will be held in Hong Kong this year.
The HKTB will continue to promote and support more such events in the city through publicity and funding schemes, he added.
