Hong Kong Customs detected four drug trafficking cases at Hong Kong International Airport on Sunday, seizing approximately HK$30 million worth of narcotics and arresting four female passengers arriving from Canada, Thailand and Belgium.
The seizures included approximately 25 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 14 kilograms of suspected heroin, 13 kilograms of suspected ketamine and 6 kilograms of suspected cannabis flowers.
A 19-year-old female passenger arriving from Toronto, Canada was found with 25kg of suspected cocaine worth HK$18 million in her checked luggage. A 30-year-old woman arriving from Bangkok, Thailand was discovered with 14kg of suspected "Double UOGlobe" brand heroin valued at HK$7 million in her checked baggage.
A 37-year-old passenger from Brussels, Belgium was found with 13kg of suspected ketamine concealed in food packaging in her checked luggage, worth approximately HK$4 million. A 42-year-old woman arriving from Bangkok had 6kg of suspected cannabis flowers hidden in food packaging within her carry-on luggage, valued at HK$1.3 million.
Preliminary information indicates one suspect is local while the others are non-local residents.
Customs emphasized they will continue risk-based profiling, focusing on passengers from high-risk regions to combat cross-border drug trafficking effectively. The public was reminded not to participate in drug trafficking activities for financial gain and avoid transporting unknown items for others.
