From revival to closure: Big Boss Generation ends two-month run over investor disagreements

After a grand reopening as "Big Boss Generation," the city’s iconic Club BBoss nightclub unexpectedly closed its doors on Wednesday, just two months into operation.

The nightclub was locked up tight with no signs outside as of 3pm. A curious pedestrian who had heard about the closure peered inside and found it entirely empty.

Differing operational philosophies: Lee

In response to Sing Tao Daily, sister publication of The Standard, the nightclub’s CEO, Edward Lee Kin-man, confirmed the business suspension effective today, noting there is no set date for resuming operations.

Lee explained that the decision stemmed from differing operational philosophies with mainland shareholders, adding that the suspension is primarily for an internal inventory and accounting review.

Reports indicate that a temporary suspension notice has been sent to managers, expressing gratitude for their support.

A rollercoaster reopening

Originally opened in 1984, the nightclub had been a staple of Tsim Sha Tsui's nightlife, aiming to make a comeback as a sophisticated multifunctional complex after its closure in 2012.

The revamped establishment featured a children's area, café, bar, and private event spaces, undergoing extensive renovations costing over HK$100 million and taking 18 months to complete.

The grand reopening on June 14 included a special appearance by former Japanese adult film actress Sola Aoi, enhancing the lively atmosphere.

However, the club was also inspected that night for possible violations.
