The wait is over as the results for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) exam have been released, revealing a record-breaking 16 students from 14 schools as the top scorers.

Among these outstanding candidates is Wang Haibo, the first "ultimate top scorer," who earned the highest marks in all eight subjects at the Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College.

The perfect scorer has excelled in three electives—Physics, Biology, and Chemistry—while also self-studying Economics and achieving a 5** in the Mathematics Extended Part.
The principal of the College praised Wang for his insatiable thirst for knowledge, commending his initiative in self-studying Economics and his extraordinary learning ability.
Meanwhile, five students scored a perfect 5** across six subjects this year, with an "attained" result in citizenship and social development, along with ten "super top scorers" who earned an additional 5** for the extended elective maths module.

Notably, Carmel Pak U Secondary School celebrated its first "super top scorer," who achieved 5** in 6 subjects as well as a 5** in the Mathematics Extended Part. The student, Ho Yan-ching, is now deciding between pursuing medical studies at a local university or studying Mathematics at University of Oxford.

St. Paul's Co-educational College also saw three "super top scorers" emerge, with interests in studying abroad, local medical institutions, and Economics at the University of Cambridge.

Another "super top scorer" from Po Leung Kuk Tang Yuk Tien College, Wong Wang-chi, shared that he relied solely on the internet and school materials during his studies, encouraging others not to let challenging backgrounds limit their aspirations.

A cross-border student, Wang Yuen-ting, from the Hong Kong Taoist Association Tang Hin Memorial Secondary School, has emerged as a top scorer and is considering studying medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Remarkably, it has been 10 years since the school had its first top scorer in 2015.

The True Light School of Hong Kong also welcomed its first DSE "top scorer" this year, as Fung Yuet-kiu achieved 5** in six subjects.

Additionally, Yau Pok-yan from Cheung Chuk Shan College in North Point plans to attend a science program at the University of Cambridge, aiming to return to Hong Kong to conduct scientific research, particularly in sustainable energy, such as solar power.

Other schools that produced top achievers include Queen's College, King's College, La Salle College, Wa Ying College, Diocesan Girls' School, Munsang College, and Heep Yunn School.
There are over 18,200 candidates who achieved a score of "332A22" this year, meeting the general minimum admission requirements for the eight major universities in Hong Kong.
