Golden Harvest MegaBox cinema will cease operations next Monday (June 9), marking the latest casualty in Hong Kong's shrinking cinema landscape.
“GH MegaBox will be closed from June 9, 2025, due to the expiry of the tenancy,” the cinema chain announced in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We look forward to seeing you again at other GH cinemas!”
On its final day, the cinema will bid farewell to moviegoers with mystery movie screenings priced at HK$40.
Ticket holders will also receive a commemorative GH MegaBox card. Details on advance ticket sales will be announced soon.
Additionally, the cinema will launch promotional deals for designated snacks and products, with prices starting at HK$40.
Golden Harvest recently closed its Whampoa cinema on April 10 after 16 years of operation, followed by the shutdown of its Grand Ocean cinema in Tsim Sha Tsui on Monday.
Separately, MegaBox issued a press release on Wednesday evening, announcing that CineArt House will assume operations at the specified location.
The new theater is scheduled to open in July, with details for design and equipment upgrade as well as promotional activities for the grand opening to be announced at a later date.
