Popular Cantopop boy band MIRROR’s leading member, Keung To, has switched to a more affordable Japanese vehicle following a minor traffic accident involving his HK$600,000 BMW iX electric car last year.
The 25-year-old singer, who obtained his probationary driver’s license last year after just over ten lessons and passed the test in a single attempt, reportedly sustained only minor scratches on his car and no personal injuries. Friends said the incident prompted Keung to adopt a smaller, easier-to-handle vehicle for daily commuting.
According to an exclusive report by East Week, the sister publication of The Standard, Keung was recently seen driving a blue Suzuki Jimny 4WD, which retails for around HK$200,000 new or HK$100,000 second-hand. He reportedly uses the car mainly for leisure and sports activities, reserving his BMW for later when he feels more confident behind the wheel.
Insiders added that he usually travels in a dedicated car for work-related trips and has been taking extra precautions since the accident.
“He wanted something practical that won’t cause as much worry if damaged again,” one source said.
The singer is reportedly negotiating a renewal of his MakerVille contract, which has less than three years remaining. Friends say he has requested greater autonomy over his music releases, acting projects, and work schedule to allow for more personal time and family commitments.
Outside of work, Keung has recently taken up pickleball, frequently practicing with fellow sports enthusiast Leung Yip, also known as “Fat Jai.” He has also incorporated running into his overseas travel routine, including during Paris Fashion Week, where he recently attended fashion events.
