Erena So Hoi-lam, Hong Kong’s first actress to enter the Japanese adult film industry, has faced career hurdles following contract disputes with her management company. After releasing six films, she has yet to produce new content, fueling speculation about her retirement.

Erena clarified that financial issues were not the cause, but unresolved contract matters could affect future productions. In response, Erena has diversified her income streams. She has launched a “Close Friends” membership program offering exclusive content and interactions, as well as a premium dining service priced at HK$40,000. Additionally, she has organized art exhibitions and auctions featuring self-portraits, and plans to release a photo book in November.
Turbulent love and heartbreak
Erena has also opened up about her turbulent past relationships. In a previous appearance on a TV show, she revealed she had experienced a violent relationship after her partner’s repeated infidelity. The situation escalated to physical abuse, leaving her with injuries that required hospital treatment.
She also shared that her “most beloved” ex-boyfriend passed away a few years ago, which sent her into an emotional low. Since then, Erena has said she finds it hard to trust men and identifies as a “non-marriage advocate.”
A casual outing sparks romance rumors
Speaking of her ideal partner, Erena has described him as a mature and stable man who wears glasses and can provide a sense of security. According to Eastweek, a sister publication of The Standard, she was recently seen in Causeway Bay with a bespectacled man who appeared to fit that description.
After attending an event in Wan Chai, Erena was spotted heading to a Causeway Bay mall, dressed casually in a printed T-shirt, shorts, and a Chanel backpack. The man soon joined her, helping carry several bags of fan gifts. The pair later dined at a Japanese restaurant, where they were seen chatting and laughing comfortably. At one point, they leaned in to take a selfie together before leaving the restaurant after nearly two hours.
The outing has sparked speculation about a potential new romance.
