Three years after a devastating accident involving a falling video screen at a Mirror concert, severely injured dancer Mo Li Kai-yin is now facing a shortage of medical resources for his recovery, according to his father's recent prayer letter.
In the latest letter on Saturday (Sep 6), the father, Derek Li Shing-lam, described his son’s journey to recover as “full of twists and turns.”
Li recounted a promise made three years ago to support his son's medical expenses, which reignited hope for the family.
However, he expressed concern that this support has diminished, leaving the family uncertain about how to move forward.
While the family has found connections for advanced treatment, he emphasized that sufficient resources are crucial for its continuation.
"If we lose both treatment options and support, what choice are we left with?" Li wrote.
Moments of nervousness and helplessness
Li highlighted that the family has been able to explore advanced treatment options thanks to that initial promise, but numerous challenges have arisen over the past three years, forcing them to repeatedly readjust their plans.
He voiced frustration over medical supplies that have lost effectiveness due to delays in use.
Li further shared a distressing moment last Friday morning (Sep 5), when a caregiver suddenly lost contact during a critical time.
"As parents, we had to step in to assist our son despite not knowing the procedure of bowel movement at 3am," Li recalled, describing he and his wife once again faced a moment of nervousness and helplessness.
