The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation's mobile payment application PayMe will charge a handling fee of 1.2 percent when users add value with credit cards issued by other lenders, effective from August 19.But PayMe named three scenarios in which there could be exceptions. First, when the balance in the PayMe account is not enough for the ongoing payment to merchants, no additional charge will be required.
When adding HK$100 as an example, the PayMe users will be charged HK$1.2 if they use a non-HSBC credit card.

Users who top-up with HSBC credit cards and via accounts of any banks will be exempted from the handling fee as well.
The maximum charges for adding value using a non-HSBC credit cards will be HK$12 per month.
By the end of this year, users who add value to their accounts with non-HSBC credit cards can get back the handling fee as long as they spend HK$30 or above at the PayMe-available merchants.
