Hong Kong shares erase morning gains by midday

Hong Kong shares turned to fall by midday on Thursday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index dropped 104 points, or 0.39 percent, to 26,661.

The tech gauge slipped 1.65 percent to 5,173.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index went down 0.08 percent to 4,144, and the Shenzhen Component Index advanced 0.28 percent to 14,516.
