Hang Seng Index flat on Tuesday, Meituan down 6.7 percent

Hong Kong stocks closed flat on Tuesday, following a Monday tech selloff.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index dipped 6 points to 25,511 points at the close. 

The market turnover was HK$254 billion.

Shares of Alibaba (9988) rebounded 1.5 percent after sinking nearly 9 percent on Monday.

Meituan (3690), whose shares declined nearly 7 percent, was the worst performer among blue-chip stocks.

The Hang Seng Tech Index lost 0.1 percent to 4,588 points.

In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index was up by 0.2 percent to 3,889 points, and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index dropped 0.4 percent to 13,745 points.
