China’s low-altitude economy, covering business activities in airspace below 1,000 metres, is expected to reach 1.5 trillion yuan (HK$1.64 trillion) in 2025 and could exceed 2 trillion yuan by 2030, according to state-owned media CCTV.
The sector, identified by the Chinese government as a strategic emerging industry, has rapidly moved beyond a technology catch-up phase in low-altitude equipment and is gradually taking a leading role in key areas, the report said.
The expansion of the market is being driven by breakthroughs across the low-altitude equipment industry, it added.
Data show that 969 Chinese companies have registered with the civil unmanned aerial vehicle product information system, listing 3,191 products and over 4.78 million aircraft, while the world’s first four-seat electric aircraft has received type certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
