Hong Kong and China stocks rose on Thursday after the US ended the longest government shutdown in history.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index increased by 150 points, or 0.6 percent, to 27,073 points, reversing earlier losses.
The market turnover was HK$270 billion.
The Hang Seng Tech Index grew 0.8 percent to 5,981 points.
Shares of Alibaba (9988) rose 3.3 percent.
The biggest loser among blue-chip stocks was China Resources Mixc Lifestyle Services (1209), whose shares declined by 3 percent after its parent China Resources Land (1109) announced plans to offload nearly 50 million shares in the property management arm at a nearly 10 percent discount to Wednesday’s closing price.
In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index rose 0.73 percent to 4,029 points, and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index gained 1.8 percent to 13,476 points at the close.
