Hong Kong and mainland Chinese stocks slipped at midday on Tuesday, as investors turned cautious ahead of expected trade talks between the US and China later this month.
Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 51 points, or 0.2 percent, to 25,837 at the midday break, with turnover at HK$188.7 billion. The Hang Seng Tech Index dropped 1.3 percent to 6,065, while the China Enterprises Index edged up 6 points, or 0.07 percent, to 9,229.
In the mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.21 percent to 3,897, while the Shenzhen Component Index lost 1 percent to 13,096.
