Huawei has said it will shortly be launching several new products that are free of US technology.The move could help Huawei to develop a de-Americanized production line, with SMIC estimating the expansion could be completed within two years.
It follows SMIC's (0981) announcement last Friday that it would expand its 28-nm chip production line by investing US$7.6 billion (HK$59.28 billion).

Huawei is working to avoid making products that use US technology in order to minimize the effects of US sanctions. It is expected to produce notebooks, smart screens and Internet of Things products and further details on the new devices could be released as early as August 17 during a new products presentation for the summer.
Huawei is also reported to have ordered 120 million chips from Taiwan's MediaTek.
