Fusen Pharma denies product combats Wuhan virus

Shares in Fusen Pharmaceutical (1652) surged by 53.14 percent to HK$8.79, after media reports said that the Chinese medicine formula, Shuanghuanglian oral solutions, a top product, has a potential to be used for inhibiting the new coronavirus, citing a preliminary study done jointly by the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica and the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

However, Fusen said it has not carried out any research on its effectiveness  and had not made any representation or given a warranty on it.

The Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica pointed out that the effectiveness of Shuanghuanglian of inhibiting the new coronavirus is yet to be confirmed through further clinical trials.
