Former Asia Television (ATV) executive James Shing Pan-yu is currently hospitalized in a critical condition, with his wife, socialite Michelle Chua, revealing he has been fighting for his life in the ICU.
Recent reports suggest the 46-year-old media personality has been diagnosed with terminal liver cancer, his weight plummeting to just 70 pounds (32 kg).
Chua updated Sing Tao Daily, The Standard’s sister publication, via text message on Sunday (August 17), sharing that while Shing remains weak, his condition has shown slight improvement.
"He's much more lucid today—he even tried to write, though he lacked the strength," the message read.
Notably, Chua neither confirmed nor denied the terminal cancer diagnosis when pressed by media, explaining that Shing prefers to keep his medical details private.
The couple's 6-year-old twins recently visited their father in hospital, but the emotional encounter left them in tears, said Chua.
While the children beg to return daily after school, Shing—concerned about hospital germs—has limited visits.
