Six teams offering a range of environmental, social, and governance solutions as well as digital economy won at the the Hong Kong Baptist University Start-up Saturday competition today.
Each team won a seed fund of HK$30,000 to further develop their projects.
Three of the ESG solutions include a device for remote monitoring and nurturing young tree growth, green fertilizer, and environmental-friendly outdoor gaming. They were the ideas of the teams MetaGreenX, ESG Fertilizer: Growing Green, Growing Win, and Bio-Leisure respectively.
Three digital economy solutions include using artificial intelligence for online dating, Chinese medical service, and ethical use of AI. They are offered by EffiMatch AI-Driven Efficiency Online Dating, Yiluda, and Kritrim | S-Audit.
The teams are encouraged to join the Hang Seng X HKSTP X WOFOO Future Ecopreneur programme starting from May, which comprises a series of activities, classes, tours, and cash awards, offered by the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation .
In addition to the competition, the HKBU Career Centre has offered mentorship, guidance, and workshops on various aspects of entrepreneurship to students.
The judges include HKSTP university collaborations and entrepreneurship associate director Raymond Chu, HKBU Institute for Innovation, Translation, and Policy Research assistant director Raymond Chan, Hong Kong Monetary Authority manager (monetary operations) Angus Chow, and Chun Au Knitting Factory director Alicia Tam and they have shared valuable comments with the students.
